Jaime Burbano de Lara

Jaime joined Barka Capital in 2020 as a Senior Associate and in 2024 was promoted to VP of Tactical Opportunities.
Previous to joining Barka, Jaime was an Associate at Produbanco - Grupo Promerica, a Latin American banking conglomerate with over $20 billion in assets. He was first involved in the investment risk analysis and management of the bank’s treasury portfolio in public markets and then transitioned to the corporate credit unit of the Ecuadorian operation, overseeing lending in the Manufacturing, Consumer Goods and Energy industries. During his last role, he led the implementation of the Sustainable Finance strategy that deployed over $115 million directed towards renewable energy and resource efficiency in coordination with DFI’s and multilateral banks.
He has served as a member of the Sustainable Finance Committee of the private banks association of Ecuador (Asobanca), which shaped public policy and regulations aimed at advancing green project financing.
Jaime holds a double degree from The Pennsylvania State University, a BS in Energy, Business & Finance and a BA in Economics. Additionally, he is a member of the Global Competitiveness Leadership Programme (2023) from Georgetown University.
